With the holiday season upon us, the spirit of giving is in full effect here at ReidGoodwin. As in years past, ReidGoodwin will spread cheer by giving back to the local Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) here in Richmond! This week and next, our team members will split up and select items off the various house wish lists (Holiday, Ongoing, and Sibling Center). ReidGoodwin continues to enjoy supporting this foundation while they assist families in their time of need.
The Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide families with a “home away from home” and places for them to stay while their young family members are being treated in local hospitals. RMHC was founded in 1974 and now has over 64 various chapters throughout the world, including Richmond, Virginia. The RMHC provides several opportunities to get involved, throughout the country, including volunteering and donating items. Please visit their website to find your local chapter and learn more about how to get involved.
ReidGoodwin is excited to have this opportunity to give back to such a great organization within our local community. We hope that you too will find a way to spread some cheer this holiday season.
Attorneys and Staff Members Raise Funds to Help Care for RAL Animals
On Saturday, April 28th, ReidGoodwin participated in the Richmond Animal League’s (RAL) Woofstock and Strut Your Mutt for the fifth consecutive year. In the month leading up to the event, staff members were able to raise $2,425.00 which will be donated to RAL. Money raised will be put towards microchips, spay and neuter surgeries, cleaning supplies, medication, testing, vaccines, and food. The funds will also assist with animal transportation.
The Richmond Animal League is a no-kill shelter founded in 1979. They assist with helping find homes for dogs and cats. In 2009, they opened The Loving Spay & Neuter Clinic, as they saw the need for a low-cost clinic on the Southside. If a pet owner meets the low-income guidelines, their animals are eligible for free spay and neuter services. Each year the RAL hosts the Woofstock and Strut Your Mutt to help fund these activities.
ReidGoodwin loves an opportunity to give back to the Richmond community. Animals are especially close to the hearts of the attorneys and staff members. We look forward to helping fundraise for RAL again next year. For more information on RAL, visit their website!
ReidGoodwin Reads to Students on Dr. Seuss Day
On Friday, March 2nd, staff members from ReidGoodwin volunteered at elementary schools in the Richmond area on behalf of RG’s Reading Corner Program. Volunteers were able to choose a Dr. Seuss book and read it to classes at Fairfield Court, Broad Rock, G.H. Reid, J.E.B. Stuart, Blackwell, and M.J. Jones Elementary Schools.
This event kickstarted ReidGoodwin’s new community outreach program, ReidGoodwin’s Reading Corner. ReidGoodwin started this program with the mission to give back to Richmond Public Schools. These schools play a vital role in our families and community and ReidGoodwin wants to support them in any way possible. On February 28th, ReidGoodwin also announced a monetary award for the month of March. Schools will be able to submit a proposal and ReidGoodwin will award $500.00 for a project or need.
We look forward to more opportunities to give back and connect with our community. For more information on ReidGoodwin’s Reading Corner and how to get involved, click here!
Team Members Bake Pies and Help Set up for a Thanksgiving Dinner
This past Wednesday, ReidGoodwin team members in Roanoke and Richmond volunteered their time and skills to give back for Thanksgiving. In Roanoke, team members made and delivered pies for the Roanoke Rescue Mission’s Thanksgiving Dinner. In Richmond, team members traveled to the Richmond Convention Center to help sort clothing and make table centerpieces for The Giving Heart’s Thanksgiving dinner.
The Roanoke Rescue Mission is an organization established to provide assistance, shelter, and meals to homeless individuals and their families. They also offer programs for those struggling with addiction. This Thanksgiving, they offered a Thanksgiving dinner and held a Drumstick Dash Race 5K to raise money for their programs. They offer these programs and events year-round for those in need.
The Giving Heart is an organization that strives to provide food, fellowship, and essential items to those in need. Each year they host a Thanksgiving Feast for those in the Richmond area. This year they also provided different services along with the dinner, and free transportation through GTRC. Anyone was invited and those in need could come for a meal, a haircut, and items that they may need, like clothing and hygiene essentials.
The Roanoke Rescue Mission has a packed schedule for December. For more information on how you can volunteer for their events or give, visit their website! The Giving Heart focuses on two events during the year, their Thanksgiving Dinner and a Secret Senior Valentines Program. To find out how you can get involved this Valentines’ Day or to learn more about this past Thanksgiving dinner, visit their website! ReidGoodwin enjoyed the opportunity to give back to its communities this holiday season, and we hope you will check out these awesome organizations!
